Picture shown are Tatsuru Ichishima, Spoon Japan founder and Opak Racing endurance driver Gaby Dela Merced at Thunderhill at the end of the 25hr endurance race the weekend of December 4-6, 2009. Opak Racing-Spoon Sports fielded the FD2 and the EuroR and both successfully completed the grueling NASA 25 hour race. The Spoon Euro R with Gaby and Tom Lepper took the Series Championship finishing the WERC 6hr final race for the series simultaneously at the Thunderhill Raceway event. Other notable Opak and Spoon drivers included: Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Digital Polyphony , creator of Gran Tourismo, Naoki Hattori, top Japanese JGTC driver, Sam Mitani, Sr. International Editor of Car and Driver as well as our local lineup Ken Kurtz and Carl Young.
